Cupping

Claire Hogben is trained in the technique of Cupping, which is an ancient Chinese treatment using cups and heat to stimulate the lymphatic & blood circulation to break up adhesions which cause muscle stiffness.

Textual evidence on cupping can be found in the writings of Hippocrates (C.460-377 BC), known as the father of modern medicine.

Glass cups are applied to the surface of the skin with the aid of lit cotton wool - this removes the oxygen in the cup thus providing a vacuum suction.  This suction allows the deeper muscles to be manipulated as well as encouraging the flow of blood & lymph in the area and the removal of tissue wastes.

Cupping may also be of benefit in reducing cellulite and for clearing scar tissue.  Combined with stretching, cupping can be useful for treating sports injuries such as plantar fasciitis, ilio-tibial band syndrome and compartment syndrome.

Ear Candling

Ear Candling derives from the ancient healing methods of many cultures.  It is a technique whereby a sealed vacuum effect is made in the ear to draw out unwanted wastes from wax build up and past infections.  This technique promotes the drainage of the sinuses and can help to relieve sufferers of chronic cough, glue ear, infected ears or sinus, migraines and tinnitus.
